week 159 of :iconmlp-atg-alumni:.  theme was to draw a pony training.

so here's dash i guess thining she's some cool fighter pony or something with lots of tape on her.

I tried something new and bold this time -- actually letting my line weight varients exist, instead of stressing like crazy for hours on end trying to get them as perfect as possible to mimick the FiM cartoon's vector lines.  I honestly have no idea why it took me to long to try this; I just learned by trying to copy the show's style and I never could wedge myself out of that same 'method' every time I drew anything digitally no matter how hard I tried, unless I was purposely doing something very silly or under a time limit or whatever which end up generally being some of my better pics AND much more fun to do AND i get them out quicker.  So basically I did the linework a lot more quick and dirty but I think it came out well and even gave the pic a bit more 'life' than most my stuff.  I actually at first wanted to do a 'sloppy ink' type of linework a la Street Fighter 4's art style but I decided not to fool with trying something so different and potentially difficult / time-consuming to pull off for the first time, on my very first pic after moving and just wanting to get something out there before the ATG week's due date for the first time in ages.

(Well, I *did* take a bit longer than I shoudl have fixing little frayed edges and stuff but I'm definitely stepping in the right direction as far as drawing more freely and being less OCD about it all)

Dynamic linework is often the result of being looser and less strict with yourself while doing it!

I agree.  The linework there feels very natural and fluid.  It makes your drawing feel more alive.
