week 65 of :iconmlp-atg-alumni:. theme was to draw a wealthy pony.

such a simple theme with so much possibility, yet i absolutely could NOT think of anything interesting to draw for it -- I was trying to get the drawing finished before Borderlands 2 wound its way into my life on Tuesday, but upon that failing, Kirby's Dream Collection coming the next day, and then Torchlight II coming out the next, all 3 of which i'd pre-ordered quite some time ago, and all 3 of which I wanted to play quite a bit (particularly the first and third, which some online friends have kept me very busy on) I couldn't even THINK of doing this again until Saturday. And even while doing it, I've been putting off some of the most fun I might have playing a game with friends online for quite awhile, so I kinda wanted to just get it finished -- I know putting more time into my art, far more, is far, far more important than stuff like that, but seriously, I've been waiting eons for these games and they're so, sooooo good.

I tried ot at least think of WHAT to draw throughout the week, but aside from some corny things like Diamond Tiara being 'too busy on Ponylands 2 to care' or whatever (not that a similar idea, executed well, when I have more time, wouldn't be good), nothing interesting came to me. Then, at least, Saturday morning, putting off logging on to any kind of social programs to avoid the imminent, it came to me. Something simple and straightforward again, but that nowhere near enough people draw -- the luxurious Photo Finish, who could easily be considered a 'wealthy' pony, without all that frill or eyewear. Considering I still have "Picture Perfect Pony" in my head and probably will for the forseeable future, she needed to be drawn at least once like me, anyway.

also, the cutiemark was inspired by (taken from?) an image whose only credit is the ask-the-crusaders tumblr-- it was the only image of her cutiemark I could find and I'm not sure if that artist made it up or if it's canonically out there somewhere or what. It was Twilight's cutiemark but with the camera there, I changed it a bit.

Also I'm extremely underwhelmed with this even though I tried to spend time to make it quality enough for how simple it is, I'm going to need to cut the crap and put a lot more time and effort into art than this though if I want to stop feeling that way. Once these two games are completed I'm putting my foot down and putting less time per day into video games, for sure.

Photo Finish's cutie mark wasn't intended to be visible during her appearance in the cartoon. However, the cartoonists slipped up at one point, making her mark visible for a brief time. As she's just a palette-swapped Twilight with a different mane, it was Twilight's mark that appeared on her flank. As this was simply a mistake, she doesn't actually have an official cutie mark, and the artist whose work you found would have simply invented this one.

Well, I think it works well enough for her, considering, y'know, the flashes of a camera. I'd rather change it up a bit to not simply be "twilight's cm PLUS MORE" but all in all, then, all credit goes to CUTIE_MARK_CRUSADER_TUMBLR_ARTIST_329.JPG or whatever their name is.

Also, that's pretty funny -- you can tell with her tail, but her hair looks different from Twi's, a bit, especially the lower part behind the ear, I guess this kinda stuff is the weakness of flash-animating though -- it saves time and is easier for us lazy Westerners that never do traditional animation professionally anymore, but it feels a little pre-fab and less soulful when stuff like this happens or is found out. I mean this show has enough charm and quality to make up for it, but it's one more reason why I wouldn't mind seeing a future gen or at least special or something use traditional animation -- I thought nothing in the world was cuter than the ponies in this show until I saw the storyboards for the same show!

I would definitely agree that this cutie mark works for her. Hopefully, should she reappear in a future episode, the animators will give her an official cutie mark of some form. And perhaps a new tail style, so she's no longer a palette swap.

Impossible, everypony knows she's secretly Rainbow Dash under all that stuff!

And Rainbow Dash has secretly been Spike dressed up as Rainbow Dash since Return of Harmony. And the real Rainbow Dash dresses up like Twilight for various reading scenes since Read it and Weep (even though it was obviously Spike in that episode, too). I MEAN, DONCHA KNOW.

But funny enough, as revealed in the comments below this one, apparently she's just a Twilight recolor/very slight edit anyway. Pay no attention to the fact Twilight's actually in that episode and iirc in the same scenes when Photo first appears.

Nah, RD is Photo Finish. She just uses that persona so that she can always dress in style without ruining her reputation.

So Derpy is actually AJ with grey paint, contacts, rustled hair and really convincing wings so she has an excuse to be a silly pony?

Video games eat up more of my time than I probably realize or care to think about
but they're also a really great source of inspiration and motivation

also more fun than coding usually

Yeah, sure, when you're playing one that actually inspires you, is intelligent or has a good story or something. I feel like I've spent far, far too much time on these idiotic neverending online ones just to waste my day away and stimulate some very specific corner of my brain that ends up just getting pissed off and frustrated most the time anyway, especially when playing against human opponents where I have no way to truly learn/prepare/know exactly what to do, which is the type of game I play far too much of.

Though TL2 and BLs2 are fantastic, fantastic games, once I'm finished with the story in 'em once I'm going to try and cool it off a bit. On the other front I have some nice, simpler offline games to play, as well as a very good friend of mine playing through the Final Fantasy series -- and up to part 6, which despite being one of my favorites, I never completely finished, so I'm playing it alongside him as best I can -- and we discuss the story and stuff every few 'chapters' like a book club or something. That kind of stuff is enriching and excellent, just not the "junk food for the brain" stuff I do far too often.

And besides, I think staring at a screen so much for all these years has really been taking a toll on me -- I need to get off the PC more often and draw on actual paper and do other things, besides.
