day 28 of the newbie artist training ground event on equestria daily. theme was to draw a pony cooking. well, here's a pony with food; i'm not going to say she's "smokin'" or anything because i don't think i'm yet at the skill level required to draw a cartoon pony THAT aesthetically pleasing. but let's go with that if it gets me through the theme.
anyway, behold! fanart of LITERALLY THE WORST THING OF ALL TIME:
[link]i had absolutely no idea what to draw for today's event that'd be interesting or clever, so i ended up asking some people and i got linked that as a joke suggestion. of course, i saw the end of the video and bathrobe rarity from Suited For Success was the first thing to pop into my head...
and thus, a few hours later, THIS was born.
yeah, though, now i've drawn all six of the main ponies at least once now. i was dreading rarity and her complicated eyes and hair but i think it went pretty well. i just hope i don't slay anyone with a reference to such an awful thing~
oh, and that pose was totally unique and very hard to pull off, but i think i did okay.
someday i should redo it, like, a lot better than this, once i have actual skill
You also drew the pose really well, the only criticism I've got is the snout; it is a bit too long. I saw this at a few other drawings in your gallery too. I have to say that I drew them too long too at the start of this event, and even now they don't always look completely right when I draw them. But, I just force myself to make them shorter now, and they come out pretty good. I do still have problems whenever I want them to open their mouths too wide, as their whole jaw seems to get a different shape then.
Also, that video was my WTF moment for the day xD
Honestly, I think my jailed Derpy is probably the cutest and most on-point pony I've drawn so far, and I could tell SOMETHING was off about Rarity today even though she was so, so so SO much better than something I could've done a month or even a couple weeks ago. It's a little hard to tell exactly *what* it is that's off sometimes, so I very much appreciate you sending that my way -- I'll try my best to make the snouts shorter and everything. I guess it's like, you have that circle as the base for the head and even with the criss-cross for where they're facing it can be hard to pinpoint the exact position of certain things like the snout and the length of them, but I know with practice and just getting used to it it should get easier and easier. The EYES are by far the hardest thing for me, but I think I'm getting slowly better and better at them -- I actually am tempted to ask you a question or two about them but I can wait 'till the event's over and do it as I have been until then.
Also, I appreciate having a "real" pony artist helping me out like this. It's cool of you!
If you ever want to ask me a question, just send a message or add me on MSN, I'd be glad to help!
I'm flattered by your last comment, but please understand that I'm nowhere near a great artist, so I won't be able to help with everything. Thanks though! <3
