grilled cheese, if you please by hip-indeed grilled cheese, if you please by hip-indeed
day 28 of the newbie artist training ground event on equestria daily. theme was to draw a pony cooking. well, here's a pony with food; i'm not going to say she's "smokin'" or anything because i don't think i'm yet at the skill level required to draw a cartoon pony THAT aesthetically pleasing. but let's go with that if it gets me through the theme.

anyway, behold! fanart of LITERALLY THE WORST THING OF ALL TIME:

[link]

i had absolutely no idea what to draw for today's event that'd be interesting or clever, so i ended up asking some people and i got linked that as a joke suggestion. of course, i saw the end of the video and bathrobe rarity from Suited For Success was the first thing to pop into my head...

and thus, a few hours later, THIS was born.

yeah, though, now i've drawn all six of the main ponies at least once now. i was dreading rarity and her complicated eyes and hair but i think it went pretty well. i just hope i don't slay anyone with a reference to such an awful thing~

oh, and that pose was totally unique and very hard to pull off, but i think i did okay.

I know what you mean by her eyes and mane, they can be really hard to draw. You pulled it off pretty good though!

You also drew the pose really well, the only criticism I've got is the snout; it is a bit too long. I saw this at a few other drawings in your gallery too. I have to say that I drew them too long too at the start of this event, and even now they don't always look completely right when I draw them. But, I just force myself to make them shorter now, and they come out pretty good. I do still have problems whenever I want them to open their mouths too wide, as their whole jaw seems to get a different shape then.

Also, that video was my WTF moment for the day xD

Thank you. Despite imperfections, I have to be proud of this one -- I put a whole heck of a lot of time into it and made sure it was quality in one form or another.

Honestly, I think my jailed Derpy is probably the cutest and most on-point pony I've drawn so far, and I could tell SOMETHING was off about Rarity today even though she was so, so so SO much better than something I could've done a month or even a couple weeks ago. It's a little hard to tell exactly *what* it is that's off sometimes, so I very much appreciate you sending that my way -- I'll try my best to make the snouts shorter and everything. I guess it's like, you have that circle as the base for the head and even with the criss-cross for where they're facing it can be hard to pinpoint the exact position of certain things like the snout and the length of them, but I know with practice and just getting used to it it should get easier and easier. The EYES are by far the hardest thing for me, but I think I'm getting slowly better and better at them -- I actually am tempted to ask you a question or two about them but I can wait 'till the event's over and do it as I have been until then.

Also, I appreciate having a "real" pony artist helping me out like this. It's cool of you!

Indeed, sometimes it can be hard to get a pony just right. I just made my submission for today, but I'm really not satisfied with Derpy's head. I don't really have much time today though, and as it's only a sketch, I couldn't be bothered to change it. After drawing more ponies you'll slowly get used to drawing the right proportions though!

If you ever want to ask me a question, just send a message or add me on MSN, I'd be glad to help!

I'm flattered by your last comment, but please understand that I'm nowhere near a great artist, so I won't be able to help with everything. Thanks though! <3

Pff well you're a GOOD one and you're better than me, and I know that you'll keep getting better and better, so I respect you and your advice! I'd be glad to talk to you on MSN, though I'm gonna be a bit busy today as well (I need to finish my piece early too, but it shouldn't be too tough today); I'm just surprised at all the cool people I keep meeting due to ponies :3
