week 46 of :iconmlp-atg-alumni:. theme was to draw a pony in a carnival.

This wasn't a week in which I 'technically' had a lot of time to draw and had to think up excuses at the end as to why I didn't do more with my piece -- this week I moved into an apartment, and aside from the physical moving, mental load and constant stream of people in and out and about, what very truthfully little time I did have alone and with a working computer I was either utterly exhausted or had a splitting headache. On Tuesday I actually started a separate piece from this (actually also sonic-related, how surprising) that I'd like to finish sometime, but it just wasn't going to work with the tiny window of time i had today to crank this thing out before the deadline. It's ultra-simple but fun enough that I don't feel too bad about it.

Of course, if you don't get the joke, check out this video: [link]
Throughout the Carnival Night Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 there are these barrels that act as a 2d physics puzzle, before such a thing was pretty much even within the grasp of our minds as children in the early 90s. Most of them scattered about are just alternative platforms or means to reach little bonus items but a bit into the second act of the stage is this "Barrel of Doom"; far and away the most difficult to pass of all the barrels and the only one that's completely non-optional, with a door closing behind you and absolutely no alternative path around it, and no amount of Chaos Emeralds or rings or Sonic skill will help you. Twilight Sparkle may be able to pass it, but Rainbow Dash, who otherwise would be the most logical pony to exist in the Sonic games' universe and thrive, would most likely never get past this part.

I didn't know how to do that until AFTER my game council broke.

And then she found out later that all she really had to do was move up and down. She wasn't happy when she found out.

Thanks! Though I wish I'd had more time for this and been able to give it a much better background, etc., I'm glad you like it.

What's ironic to me is that I never had any sort of problem with the barrel when I played this game as a kid. It was only much, MUCH later that I learned of its infamy while browsing the Guide Dang It page on TvTropes. >_>

Since I couldn't find the English version here's animation that shows another way of how frustrating the barrel is. It's German Fandubbed. [link]
